Five Stages of Consulting

While working with Innovative Biz Consulting, we operate within five crucial stages to allow us to help get your business to optimal performance levels. Although the stages are numbered, following them in sequential order is not our most common experience, and in reality, we jump back and forth between the stages with our clients. As obstacles come up, as ideas take shape, as our clients decide they want to move in different directions, and even as the economy shifts, we are ready to help guide our clients through whatever circumstances present themselves. Check out a brief description of the stages below:

Stage 1: Immersion

Immersion involves introducing ourselves into the unique ecosystem that is your business. In this stage, you can think of us as a combination between sponge and hungry student. This is the time where we learn about all the ins and outs of your business. We want to know how your business works from a perspective of intricacy and specifics. We’ll be asking a lot of questions, doing quite a bit of listening, until we and you both feel comfortable that we have a solid grasp of what you’ve done, what you want, and where you want to go.

Stage 2: Design

In Design, we will be determining, together, the most effective, efficient, and innovative course of action to build your business into exactly what you want. In this stage, we assist with strategy and system-building (which sometimes includes breaking down the current system). We determine what needs to be added to your business, what needs to be shed, and how we can interweave the necessary elements into what you’ve already built, to make your business stronger, more profitable, and have a greater ability to expand.

Stage 3: Implementation

The Implementation Stage involves implementing the strategies and plans determined during The Design Stage. While most consultants would offer guidance during this type of stage, we offer guidance and hands-on involvement doing whatever you and your business need to ensure that the necessary systems and ideas are put in place. If you only need a little bit of assistance, we can help you. If you don’t have a clue about what to do, we can do it. If you want to learn, we can teach you, and if you don’t want to be involved, we can build it and train someone else. The possibilities are endless.

Stage 4: Refinement

After building and putting in place all necessary systems, we are interested in sanding-out any rough edges so that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. We’ll make all the necessary tweaks and adjustments to the systems we’ve adjusted and/or built to provide you with a refined structure producing optimal growth. If applicable, we will create training manuals, policies and procedures, guidelines, etc. to assist you in expanding and/or welcoming new staff and training them to run the systems we helped build. We aren’t interested in building a system that only we can operate and manage – we want our clients to be able to have as much independence in their business as desired.

Stage 5: Fade Out

As the saying goes, our job is to work ourselves out of a job – but only when you feel comfortable and ready to take the reigns. As we determine as a team that your time with Innovative Biz Consulting is coming to a close, whether it be because you’ve achieved the goals and growth you wanted and/or you feel ready and prepared to manage it on your own, this is when we begin to fade out of your business. We want to make sure that we remove ourselves gradually and efficiently so the business remains intact and functioning smoothly – and we are always available after our contract has ended for guidance and consultation as things come up.
